Alejandro Fuentes Joins APA as New CFOO
Alejandro (Alex) Fuentes will join APA as the new Chief Financial and Operating Officer on October 18, 2021. Alex is filling a vacancy left with the retirement of Ann Simms, who served as APA's CFOO for 10 years.
Alex has over 20 years of diverse leadership and management experience in the private and non-profit sector, helping organizations grow sustainably, manage money prudently, and create greater impact for customers and stakeholders.
Most recently, Alex led finance, information technology, human resources, application engineering, production, and quality assurance for Oriux, a conglomerate of companies within North, Central, and South America delivering traffic technology solutions for cities worldwide with annual sales of over $100 million.
He previously served as executive president and chief operating officer for the Illinois State University Credit Union, with more than 10,000 members and over $90 million in assets.
Alex also served as chief financial officer for Raza Development Fund, the largest Latino-focused loan fund providing capital and technical assistance to organizations that serve low-income communities across the United States. On his watch the fund grew from a startup to over $120 million in assets, leveraging over $1 billion in private capital.
Fluent in English and Spanish, he studied finance and accounting at Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (MX) and received an executive MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management.
We are fortunate to have his entrepreneurial spirit, business acumen, finance and accounting skills, cultural competence, and passion for people and communities on our team!
