Solar Energy

The village's code requires solar orientation for streets and strongly encourages the incorporation of solar features into structures. It addresses solar access, requiring that streets be oriented to facilitate solar access (east-west or within 20 degrees of that) where feasible, though this criterion may be waived if certain conditions are met (§7-1-4-1.C).

The village code provides architectural guidelines that also address solar, strongly encouraging solar features to be incorporated into structures. It provides basic standards requiring solar hardware to be integrated into building design or screened from public view. Solar wind fins of less than 15 feet in height are also permitted (§9-11C-5.K).
