The township's code of ordinances includes solar-related definitions and outlines a Solar Energy Systems overlay to set standards for solar energy systems. This Solar Energy Systems overlay sets standards for solar energy systems while promoting "green" architecture design principles (§232-60).

The code of ordinances provides several solar-related definitions, including "solar electric facility" as a primary use (§232-61). Both solar energy systems and solar electric facilities are permitted in all zoning districts (§232-63). Development requirements for solar energy systems address compliance with district regulations and system placement; solar electric facilities must be enclosed by a fence with warning signage but no advertising signage (§232-64).
