Scenic View Protection
The county’s code of ordinances establishes a viewshed protection overlay to protect and enhance water courses. It includes information on overlay designation areas applicability. Additionally, it applies development standards, including setback requirements and height limitations (§4.8.7).
solar energy
The county’s code of ordinances provides a number of solar-related definitions (Art. 10). It lists "solar farm" and "solar collector (accessory)" as Public and Civic - Utility uses (§5.1.3.J).
Solar farms require a special exception permit in one district and are permitted subject to limited use standards in three other districts; accessory systems are permitted subject to limited use standards in all districts (§5.2.3).
Standards for principal-use solar farms (or Public and Civic Uses) address setbacks, height, visibility/screening, application requirements, and installation/design (§5.3.4.Q).
Standards for accessory solar collectors cover roof-mounted and ground-mounted systems and address placement, height, and setbacks (§5.4.11).
