solar energy

The county's zoning and development ordinance provides detailed standards for solar siting and solar access protections. It requires that at least 80 percent of lots in new residential subdivisions meet defined solar design standards (§1017.03).

The zoning and development ordinance applies to residential construction; places limits on shading of adjacent lots.  It accomodates for exemptions and adjustments, and allows for yard setback adjustments to allow compliance (§1017.04).
