Solar Energy

The city's code of ordinances addresses solar energy in a chapter on design standards. Lot line variation due to solar requirements will be considered (§16.24.080), and lots will be designed so that a majority of buildings in a subdvision have solar orientation (§16.24.090.D).

It provides definitions for "solar access" and "solar energy system" (§17.06.620, §17.06.630).

Variances may be granted to permit the installation of a solar energy system or the siting of a building to provide solar access; requests will be evaluated as to the extent they will reduce solar access for neighboring parcels (§17.66.050).
