The town zoning bylaws addresses large-scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaic installations. Large-scale solar farms, defined as those 250 kW or larger, are allowed as of right in all zoning districts, as either primary or accessory structures (§375-44.2). This use requires a building permit (§375-44.3.B). The code lists required documentation for the application as well as design standards (§375-44.4) and monitoring and maintenance requirements (§375-44.5). A financial surety of 125% of the cost of removal is required to guarantee removal upon decommissioning or abandonment (§375-44.6.C).
