Age-Friendly Communities
The city’s zoning code obligates developers of multi-family residential dwelling/sleeping units to install universal design features (§50-361). §50-362(e) states that changing demographics were one condition that informed the development of this regulation. §50-364 lists the required design standards.
Form-Based ZOning
The city’s zoning code includes a mapped mandatory form-based zoning district (§50-790 et seq.). This district includes four sub-zones depicting general permissible land uses, form standards, building frontage types, façade design standards, parking standards, and landscaping standards (§50-792).
Solar Energy
The city's zoning code permits solar energy systems in all districts and provides standards (§50-156.1). Systems are permitted on residential and nonresidential structures with a building permit; ground-mounted systems are limited to 10 feet in height and must be located in the rear or side yards meeting setback requirements. Utility-scale systems are permitted in the Residential Agricultural district only with a special use permit, on a minimum of five acres with a maximum height of 20 feet; glare is prohibited (§50-156.2).
