Green Stormwater Infrastructure
The city’s stormwater ordinance encourages the use of conservation design to support natural hydrological features and processes. It includes goals to protect natural infiltration and recharge rates, reduce runoff pollution, and preserve natural hydrological features (§1.0) and provides performance standards for both new development and redevelopment (§4.1.3.B, §4.1.3.C). The stormwater ordinance also provides calculation criteria for pre- and post-development site conditions (§4.2) and highlights the use of practices including open vegetated channels (§4.3.3), retention basins (§4.3.4), detention basins (§4.3.5), and conveyance systems (§4.3.6).
Solar Energy
The borough's zoning ordinance permits building- and ground-mounted accessory solar energy systems in all districts. It includes an article on Solar Energy Systems that permits building- and ground-mounted solar energy systems in all districts as accessory uses upon compliance with section requirements, which address setbacks, height, screening and visibility, impervious property coverage restrictions, decommissioning, and other features (Article 10). The zoning ordinance also includes a number of solar-related terms (§2.100).
