Report a broken linksolar energy
The county's zoning regulations allow commercial solar electricity generating facilities in certain districts subject to standards. It allows commercial electricity generating facilities in agricultural and industrial zones if they are powered by natural gas, solar, or some other renewable energy source and meet other conditions, including a 2,500' setback from residences, performance standards, and provision of a landscaping, screening, and noise control plan, as well as fire protection capacities; these two public hearings are also required (§11-6-5.M).
The county's zoning regulations also encourages passive solar design for the Black Canyon planned development, though active solar energy systems generally must be screened from public view (§§14-9-3.G, K; §14-12-2.B.1).
