This municipal code provides standards for accessory solar energy systems and encourages solar design in the Traditional Neighborhood Development overlay district. In the borough's Development Regulations and Zoning, the article on design and performance standards includes a section on solar energy systems regulating accessory residential and commercial systems in order to promote their use in the borough (§107-72). It provides general design and installation requirements and requires ground-mounted systems to conform to district height and setback requirements as well as accessory structure restrictions; roof-mounted systems must conform to district height limits.
Solar energy systems and other rooftop appurtenances may project above maximum district height limits by 10' or 10% (§107-85.B).
In the regulations for the Traditional Neighborhood Development Optional Overlay, street layout is encouraged that creates lots that facilitate passive solar design (§107-102.B.3.d.2).
