Solar Energy

The city General Plan's Open Space and Conservation element includes a conservation of natural resources policy of encourage the incorporation of renewable energy generation features, like solar panels, in the design of new development and in existing development (7j).

Actions to support this policy include subjecting all municipal buildings to an energy audit and performing practicable energy conservation alterations on municipal buildings including installation of solar hot water systems (7.2), developing local ordinances that promote energy conservation and efficiency including a solar access ordinance (7.3), performing solar retrofits of existing homes (7.4), and promoting subdivision design that provides for passive solar heating (7.6).
