Solar Energy

The city's zoning code includes a general provision permitting solar energy systems if they comply with regulations for structures; if they don't, they are treated as conditional uses and require a use permit (§12.84.110). The city also includes a solar access provision in its public nuisance ordinance; allowing vegetation to be placed or grown so as to obstruct sunlight between 10am and 2pm on an existing solar collector is listed as a public nuisance (§5.04.050).
