solar energy
The town's unified development code permits both accessory and primary solar energy systems.
It permits rooftop and ground-mounted accessory solar energy systems by right on any residential property, subject to use-specific standards (§17-405.B.3.i). These standards address setbacks, approved components, and compliance with building and electrical codes (§17-558).
It permits primary use solar energy systems with a discretionary use permit in industrial and rural residential districts, subject to use-specific standards (§17-410). These standards address setbacks, height, visibility, installation and design, decommissioning, and compliance with building and electrical codes (§17-559).
Tiny Houses and Micro-Apartments
The town's unified development code permits tiny houses on foundations, subject to use-specific standards (§17-410). These standards address compliance with building codes or manufactured housing codes, foundations, utility connections, and compliance with district development standards (§17-565). It defines "tiny house" as a single-family detached home between 200 and 600 ft2 (§17-200).
