The city's planning and zoning code defines solar energy systems (Sec. 1260.05.62). It also provides supplemental regulations for solar energy systems (Sec. 1271.06). The code provides general standards addressing location, glare, aesthetics, and decommissioning, and also provides specific design and development standards for ground-mounted and building-mounted systems that address location, lot coverage, screening, glare, and height. Site plan review is required. Systems mounted on a flat roof that are not visible from the public right-of-way, comply with height limits, and do not cause glare are exempt from review.
