The town's building regulations include regulations for the town's Green Building Program (Art. XIV). It defines a number of solar-related terms, including "active solar (photovoltaic) electric system," "passive solar heating design," "renewable energy systems," "solar thermal domestic hot water system," and "solar thermal space heating" (Sec. 18-14-20). The program offers Green Point Values for green building features, including up to 12 points for various active and passive solar design and energy system installations, including pre-plumbing or pre-wiring for later installation (Sec. 18-14-60.e). Renewable energy system permit fees are exempt from town permit fees (Sec. 18-14-90).
