The city's design review process ensures that the design of building sites, structures and landscaping recognizes and provides solar access (Sec. 17.06.010). It addresses solar access through elements of the design review process, including building orientation and landscaping/open spaces (Sec. 17.16.210.C). The city allows increased setback requirements for non-residential buildings exceeding 35 feet in height to protect solar rights of adjoining property within the Scenic Corridor overlay zone (Sec. 17.110.070.B.3.a.ii.B).
