Solar Energy

The city's subdivision regulations set minimum design standards for subdivision plans that encourage the conservation of energy through use of passive and active solar systems; where possible, streets should have an east-west alignment to accommodate solar design (Sec. 34-119.d). The code provides for the establishment of solar skyspace easements to protect solar energy systems from shading; any such easements will run with the land (Sec. 34-119.e).
