Report a broken linkThe borough's subdivision and land development ordinance addresses solar in its section on design standards, stating that blocks should be designed in part to create opportunities for the use of solar energy (Sec. 97-27.A.4). Lot layouts may be flexible to allow for building siting that takes maximum advantages of solar energy (Sec. 97-28.C). Streets should be oriented in a general east-west direction to provide for maximum southern exposure and provide opportunities for solar energy use (Sec. 97-29.A.4). Recreational land and facilities should be designed in such a way that affords maximum solar access to neighboring properties (Sec. 97-40.1). In the zoning code, solar orientation must be taken into account when designing projects in the neighborhood conservation districts for multifamily dwellings, nursing homes, elderly housing, and mobile home parks (Sec. 112-23, Sec. 112- 28). Solar panels may be exempted from height regulations (Sec. 112-89).
