Solar Energy

In the Town's General Plan, a policy in the Land Use Element includes consideration of air quality and access to incident solar energy for all general categories of land use (p. 22).

The Community Design Element has goals and policies related to Solar Design. A goal is to ensure access to, and control of, incident solar energy. A policy is to promote site planning and architectural design that reduces heating and cooling demands, and avoids blocking or reflecting sun on adjacent public spaces or buildings (pp. 44-45).

The Open Space and Natural Resources Conservation has a policy (11.3.4) to protect air quality through incentives to encourage the use of renewable resources such as solar and wind power (p. 103).

Oro Valley Staff, in partnership with the Energy Policy Committee, is currently drafting an energy element of the General Plan.
