The county's development services code includes a chapter on Residential Photovoltaic Solar Energy Devices (§2.210). The chapter establishes residential solar energy devices as an accessory use in rural and residential zones, and sets standards limiting setback encroachment and maximum height. A permit is required. The county's subdivision design standards include a provision on sustainability of design stating that subdividers should orient lots and buildings to make advantageous use of solar access (§3.35.020.I).
