Report a broken linksolar energy
The Community Design chapter of the city's Design Guidelines addresses site design - sustainable development (solar access, energy efficiency, and green buildings). The design objective is to promote development that conserves energy and minimizes impacts on natural resources. Projects should be designed to take advantage of solar heating opportunities. Design guidelines include orienting the design of the site to take advantage of solar access. For optimum solar conditions, orient the longest side of a building facing south (pp. 62-63). The City encourages the use of solar arrays or other types of solar-based energy generation in all new roofing structures. Consider the pitch of roofs and orientation of the building when designing the project as as to maximize solar energy generation (p. 63).
