Marijuana-Related Uses
The city's unified development code defines and regulates cannibis cultivation facilities, cannibis dispensaries, and cannibis manufacturing facilities (§19.12.070). Use-specific standards address separation from specific other uses, outdoor storage, and indoor air filtration, among other issues.
Solar Energy
The city's unified development code permits rooftop and ground-mounted accessory solar energy systems by right in all districts, subject to specific standards addressing placement and equipment appearance (§19.12.070 Solar Panel).
This code also includes specific standards to ensure compatibility for accessory solar energy systems in historic districts (§19.10.150.O).
This code also exempts rooftop solar energy systems from district height limits (§19.08.040.D).
Wind Energy
The city’s unified development code regulates small freestanding and building-mounted wind energy systems. It provides form-based guidance for systems attached to principal structures, preferring them integrated where possible to minimize visual impacts.
It permits small wind energy systems (SWES) in certain districts, subject to use specific standards (§19.12.010 Table 2). SWES height standards differ between districts (§19.12.070 Small Wind Energy System - Conditional Use Regulations). It includes design, location, number, noise, appearance, and utility notification standards.
It allows SWES that do not meet the standards above with a discretionary use permit, subject to use-specific standards (19.12.070 Small Wind Energy System – Minimum Special Use Permit Requirements).
