The town's zoning code defines solar daylighting and solar energy device (Sec. 8A-100).
The code addresses solar protection -- no structure shall be erected which would shade an adjacent building when the sun is more than 45 degrees above the horizon unless the written permission of the owner of the property to be shaded is first obtained (Sec. 27.1.A.).
An objective of Planned Area Development is solar design to protect solar access and provide for solar orientation of structures (Sec. 24.4.2.f.).
Solar equipment is exempt from the height limitations of the code (Sec. 23.5.B.2.b.).
Design Guidelines, found in Addendum A of the code, state that solar panels must be integrated into the building design and conform to roof slope (Sec. A.5.c.iii.).
