This guide relates the research about Baby Boomers aging in place to the communities served by the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission. It offers four primary recommendations: zoning code revisions to allow for accessory dwelling units (ADU); Transit Oriented Development and New Urbanist design to promote accessible and walkable neighborhoods; Universal Design to promote accessible residences; and “Active Adult” communities to allow for the grouping of amenities near senior subdivisions.
