Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest 

This article’s literature review linked urban trees with various social benefits, like fewer crimes and incivilities, more use of common spaces, healthier patterns of children’s play, and more. The author explains these benefits are due to the theory of defensible space, where an area without trees and other design elements can become an uninviting “no man’s land.”
