Tree Preservation and the Urban Forest 

The city’s urban forest plan establishes a long-range vision for the city’s urban forest and provides a roadmap for implementation. It requires annual reports on performance and operational plans, as well as a review every 5 years. Its policy elements are categorized as protection, sustainability, planting and maintenance, management, planning and design, and outreach. Specific policies include utilizing urban wood, protecting trees on steep slopes, and encouraging retention of native soils.
