An appendix to this historic roadway corridor report from Maryland offers these model design guidelines, which provide communities with a set of simple design guidelines to use in encouraging new development projects to enhance the appearance of a national historic byway. The guide offers case studies demonstrating the application of the model guidelines in different contexts, and offers model design guidelines for rural, transitional, and urban areas.
