Design Review
The town's zoning code creates a Design Review Commission and guidelines to maintain the traditional aesthetic character of development in the central business district (§15.17). The ordinance addresses purpose and intent, as well as specific purposes, of the ordinance (§15.17-1 and §15.17-5); provides administrative information for the commission (§15.17-6); lists definitions (§15.17-7); addresses application and review procedures for regular and expedited review (§15.17-9 and §15.17-10); and includes standards for design (§15.17-11) that address building components and design, color, building materials, awnings and canopies, exterior lighting, signs, and landscaping. The code's administrative chapter specifies the composition and jurisdiction of the Uptown Design Review Commission (§10.1).
Green BUilding
The town's municipal code requires Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for new developments within a certain zoning district and of a specific size. It requires LEED Certified certification for new developments with 7,500 square feet at the ground level in the B-2 District (§15.17-14).
