Design Review

The city's zoning code establishes design review as an administrative staff-level review process required prior to issuance of building permits and site development permits for new projects, with certain exceptions (§17.04.230). Chapter 17.06 of the code provides both design standards and guidelines that apply to all zoning districts, as well as additional standards and guidelines specific to commercial, downtown, and residential districts. The standards are specific requirements that must be met, and the guidelines are intended to be applied with flexibility.
