Design Review

These design guidelines supplement the city's downtown SmartCode.  They focus on allowing flexibility while protecting downtown character and enhancing pedestrian friendliness, and are used for both administrative and discretionary reviews. The guide sets out general principles for new downtown development, offers goal statements for different designated downtown character areas, and offers detailed design guidelines that address building materials, mass, parking and signage. A section of illustrations grouped at the end of document illustrate the application of the design principles.
