Design Review

The city's design guidelines are administered by the Architectural Review Commission, which superseded the Design Review Board in 1973. Design review is required for all new and remodeled multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial development projects, as well as certain single-family home projects. The guide describes the steps of the design review process and lists the city's overall design goals. General design principles are listed for site and building design, and more specific design guidelines are provided for commercial and industrial projects (including specific uses), downtown projects, and residential projects (including infill); another chapter addresses site planning and other design details, including stormwater, public art, and solar.
