This article surveyed landowners in fifteen (15) U.S. counties to examine the opportunities and challenges faced by farmers in urban-edge areas. It found that one-third of respondents felt the need to equally emphasize farmland preservation and farm viability efforts to keep farming viable in their county. And approximately the same number felt the priority should be protecting agricultural land from development via growth management policies.
