This model right-to-farm bylaw/ordinance intends to help protect the viability of farming by reiterating the importance of - and support for – farming within towns. A notification provision seeks to prevent conflicts between farm operations and new neighbors, and the model offers a dispute resolution process for such issues. This bylaw is best used in areas with established Agricultural Commissions to help tailor the bylaw and educate the public about the need for such provisions.
