Social Equity
This guide identifies four solutions to barriers for implementing equitable Transit-Oriented Development (eTOD). These solutions include adopting proactive, collaborative strategies, reforming plans, codes, and policies that influence station area development, expanding access to capital, and enhancing site-access and site viability. Appendix A lists resources that can be used to make the case for eTOD.
Transit-Oriented Development
This report explores barriers to preserving and creating permanent affordable housing as a component of transit-oriented development (TOD) and shares policy recommendations to overcome those barriers. It groups policy recommendations under four broad solutions:
- Adopt proactive, collaborative strategies for equitable TOD.
- Reform plans, codes, and policies that influence station-area development.
- Expand access to capital for equitable TOD.
- Enhance site access and site viability.
