The county’s zoning code establishes a Wildfire Hazard Overlay District (§17). It aims to minimize the potential of loss of life and property caused by wildfires.

It outlines various measures to be undertaken in this regard such as focusing on wildfire risks during the land development process, establishing specific development regulations in Wildfire Hazard Areas, and designing relevant wildfire mitigation prescriptions. It provides design standards, applicability criteria, general standards, definition of terms used, and requirements.
