Scenic View Protection

The scenic resource component of the county’s general plan aims to protect scenic resources through regulatory controls and preservation strategies. It presents several challenges and opportunities, including degradation of scenic resources, limited access to scenic resources, inappropriate building and landscape design, and loss of agricultural and open lands to development. In response to these issues, it provides goals, objectives, policies, and implementing actions. Some of the recommendations for the latter include establishing an overlay district, design guidelines, and requiring building setbacks to protect scenic views.
