Wildland-Urban Interface

The city’s fire code includes extensive standards for the wildland-urban interface (§3.36). It discusses the standards for building design and construction for all new structures and additions developed adjacent to the designated wildland-urban interface boundary. These standards aim to reduce the hazards to life and property by presenting preferred construction materials, methods and planning that reduce the hazards to life and property associated with the building’s ability to withstand exposure to wildfire events.

It mandates compliance with provisions stated within the International Fire Code, International Building Code and Wenatchee city zoning code.
