Scenic View Protection
The town’s land development code protects rural character and scenic qualities along some roadway through a scenic corridor overlay district. It lists the corridors that are protected by the overlay district, provides development standards, discusses entranceway features, and provides information on landscaping and buffers (§12-282 et seq.).
Urban Heat Resilience
The town’s land development code addresses urban heat. It establishes that the public right-of-way in Regional Activity Center Districts should include trees and light surfaces to increase the urban tree canopy and reduce heat (§12-438.13). It also offers green building credits for developers that implement solutions to reduce urban heat island effects (§12-438.26).
