Scenic View Protection

The town and village’s unified development code uses overlay districts to protect scenic resources, including view corridors, areas of visual sensitivity, and shorelands, from undue visual impact. Land development activities in view corridors must occur in clusters and may be subject to architectural review (§3.4.1). Developments in areas of visual sensitivity are subject to provisions related to vegetation removal, structure placement, exterior lighting, and building design (§3.4.2). Shorelands are protected through development standards that include vegetation retention, preservation of topographic features, and site design (§3.6.4).
