Outdoor Lighting 

The city’s design standards addressing outdoor lighting were adopted in 2008 and amended in 2018 (Chapter 3.100). They offer a list of definitions and establish five classes of lighting: general, accent/decorative, street lighting, outdoor recreational facilities, and Salt Creek Tiger Beetle Environs. The code provides standards for each lighting class that address maximum illuminance, lighting installations, lighting types, and other factors. It offers provisions to minimize light trespass and glare. Plan requirements are described, and the code lists permanent and temporary exemptions to the regulations.
