This briefing paper highlights the importance of incorporating the voices of families with children into the comprehensive planning process. Neighborhood Design and Housing and Zoning are identified as two sections of comprehensive plans that are likely to have issues most relevant to families with children. It also lists practical approaches planners can take to encourage more meaningful participation from this population.
