This briefing paper shows that multigenerational planning is the most effective way to mobilize resources and meet the needs of youth and older adults. It centers both age and ethnicity in their discussion of planning family-friendly communities and emphasizes the role that young immigrant families will play in replacing an aging workforce. Demographic change is seen as an opportunity to build political coalitions, promote civic participation, and improve services and design.
