This article lists the basic principles of multigenerational planning and urges planners to address the physical and social environment of a community when planning for youth and older adults. It argues that service design can overcome challenges in aspects of the built environment that cannot be changed. Introductions to the concepts of inclusive design, environmental press, and collaborative planning are provided.
