Built Environment and Health

This guide shares cost-effective ways that architects and designers can promote daily physical activity. It was created to address the rise in obesity and type 2 diabetes in New York City and in response to Mayor Bloomberg’s Design + Construction Excellence Initiative. A checklist at the end of Chapter 2 summarizes the objectives and strategies for urban design and a checklist at the end of Chapter 3 summarizes the objectives and strategies for building design.
