Built Environment and Health
The city’s comprehensive plan includes a discussion of Community Health in its Environment chapter that addresses design, food, healthcare, and transportation systems, natural hazards, pollution, safety, and recreation. It shares a Community Health Statement, baseline and target Measurements for the county, and goals that aim to make Omaha active, safe, and healthy. The Housing and Transportation chapters also include goals related to health.
Complete Streets
The city’s comprehensive plan includes a complete streets policy statement. This statement presents a vision for complete streets, lists complete streets principles, specifies applicability and jurisdiction, clarifies exceptions, lists next steps, and discusses necessary code amendments.
