Green Building

The city’s comprehensive plan provides several green building policy recommendations within a sustainable development objective. It highlights offering incentives, requiring green building in Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) Districts, and mandating green building for all new public buildings and remodeling projects (7.2). The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) certification is identified as a model for developing an ordinance to encourage sustainable development (7.7). The comprehensive plan also addresses approaches to energy efficiency (7.3).
