Green Building

This subarea plan discusses the use of green building principles to support sustainability in a downtown area. It encourages the designation of a “High Performance Area” which would support sustainable development through energy efficiency and green building construction (1.3.4). It recommends the use of the International Green Building Code in promoting energy efficiency (2.4.3). The subarea plan was one of the first to participate in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design- Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) assessment beta test.
