The county's code of ordinances identifies the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification as an eligibility for property tax credits and as a requirement for planned unit developments (PUD’s). It defines any commercial building that receives LEED Silver certification as a “high performance building”; it breaks down the tax credit duration by LEED certification level (Silver, Gold, and Platinum) and certification category (New Construction, Core and Shell, and Existing Buildings) (§11.2.203.1). It also offers LEED Silver certification as an option for satisfying a community benefit requirement for PUD’s (§32.4.242.6.i).
