Green Building

The city’s municipal code outlines green building requirements for both public and private buildings. It requires public buildings that are equal to or greater than 20,000 square feet, or over $5 million in construction cost, meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification (§10-21.130). It requires all new residential buildings comply with the California Building Energy Efficiency Standard, new multi-family and single-family buildings be GreenPoint certified, and commercial projects meet energy efficiency benchmarks (§10-22.140).
